Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Benhaddou – Gorge Dades.
Today, the first day of your “desert tour” we will welcome you to Marrakech and we will depart for Ouarzazate. It is an old caravan town located on the road of silk and salt in the eastern foothills of the Atlas. You will explore the spectacular landscapes of the High Atlas through the Tizi-in-Tichka Pass, which is 2,260 meters high. We will stop at the famous Kasbah Ait Benhaddou. This is one of the UNESCO World Heritage sites since 1987. Lunch will be in the Kasbah in a local restaurant. After, our tour continues to the movie studios.
You will also visit the Kasbah Taourirt. After, we head to the Dades Gorges via the “Route des Milles Kasbahs”. We will continue our way to stop at “the city of roses” Kalaat Mgouna. This city is known for its annual festival during the rose harvest in May. Finally, we will reach the Gorges of Dades, the night will be at your hotel in the heart of the Gorges.
Day 2: Dades Gorges – Todra Gorges – Merzouga
After breakfast, you will leave for the dunes of Erg Chebbi in Merzouga. (22km long north to south and 5 km east to west). We go through Todra Gorge in Tinghir. You will go for a walk on the Gorges at the high Falaise. Then we continue to Erfoud where we go, visit the marble factories (see all the products of fossil manufacturing and get an idea about the fossils and the geological dating of the region).
The desert tour continues to the dunes of Merzouga. After tea in front of the superb dunes of erg Chebbi, you will leave on camel back to the bivouac to spend the night in the middle of the dunes under the nomad tent. You will take pictures of the sunset and sunrise during the gone and the return.
Day 3: Merzouga (the tour of the dunes)
The most important stage in your “Marrakech TO Fes” allows you to enjoy magnificent sunrises and sunsets on the summits of the dunes of Erg Chebbi. After breakfast, make the departure to the village BEGAA to visit Sharks Teeth and then continue to Khamliya village: a village of descendants slaves of sub-Saharan peoples of Malian or Guinean origin (see the dance and music Gnawa), the night will be in a inn in Merzouga at the foot of the Erg Chebbi dunes.
Day 4: Merzouga – Errachidia – Ifrane – Fez
After breakfast, you will leave Merzouga for Fez through the gorges of the Ziz Valley. We will visit the blue spring of Meski in Errachidia. Lunch will be in Midelt. Then we will cross the Atlas Mountains by the Zad Pass (2.178m). You will stop at the Azrou forest to take pictures of the monkeys.
This city is an important craft center specializing in cedar woodwork. Then you will continue to the city of Ifrane, which is characterized by a special climate all year round. At the end of the day, you arrive at the spiritual city of Fez. The night and dinner will be in a riad in the old medina. the end of your “desert tour”.
