Day 1: Agadir – Taroudant – Taliouine – Taznakht – Zagora
Today, your 7 days tour to Dades Gorges departs from Agadir to Zagora. You will visit Taliouine, the famous region of natural saffron (the possibility to visit the workshops of saffron products of local associations). Then, you will stop at the village of Taznakht, the region known for the manufacture of Berber carpets in the south. The next stop will be in the village Agdez in the middle of the valley of Daraa, Finally arrive in Zagora the night will be at the hotel.
Day 2: Zagora – Tamagroute – Tazarine – Alnif – Erfoud
After breakfast, you will visit the underground village TAMAGROUTE to see the traditional pottery workshops. You will visit the magnificent library created in the 17th century where manuscripts of the Koran are kept, illuminated, and written on gazelle skin as well as works of history and medicine. Then you will leave towards the city of Erfoud by crossing the pass of Tizi N’Dra until Tazarine and Alnif where you will have your lunch. Afterwards, you will continue towards the city of Erfoud where you will spend the night in a hotel.
Day 3: Erfoud – Rissani – Fossil Quarry – Merzouga
After breakfast, your 7 days tour to Dades Gorges continues to Erfoud. Then you will go to the city of Rissani. It is the economic center of the region and the former imperial city of Morocco (named Sijilmassa). Lunch will be a special recipe of the region (Berber PIZZA). After visiting some historical monuments, you will make the departure to the fossil quarry. The region of fossils used for the manufacture of marble. And at the end of the day, arrive at Merzouga where you will spend the night in an inn at the foot of the dunes of the erg chebbi.
Day 4: Merzouga
This trip is the most important of the expedition: a camel ride to spend the night in a bivouac in the middle of the dunes under the nomadic tent and visit the village of Gnawas. After breakfast, you will go around the dunes by 4×4 to visit the nomad tents and oasis in the middle of the desert and get an idea of their way of life. Then visit the Khamliya slave village to witness the dance and music of the southern gnawas (former slaves of the Sultan of Marrakech in 1590).
You will take a walk in the oasis at the foot of the dunes to get an idea of the original Roman irrigation system “Khattarat”. Then, visit the lake with the pink flamingos, and in the afternoon, you will leave on Dromedary to spend the night in the bivouac under a nomadic tent in the middle of the dunes of the Erg Chebbi.
Day 5: Merzouga – Rissani – Erfoud – Todra Gorge – Dades Gorge
The alarm clock today will be early to attend the sunrise and enjoy the silence of the desert. After breakfast and shower, your tour continues to the Todra Gorges in Tinghir. You will discover the paths of the High Atlas and Berber villages. You will enjoy the panoramic views. If time permits, you will take a walk in one of the most beautiful palm groves in Morocco.
The opportunity to explore uninhabited adobe villages and kasbahs. Lunch will be under the majestic Todra Canyons where several stuntmen practice their sport. In the afternoon, you will continue your journey towards the Dades Gorges by crossing the road of the thousand kasbahs. Dinner and night will be in a local guest house or hotel in Dades Gorges.
Day 6: Dades Gorges – Kalaat M’gouna – Sekoura – Ouarzazate – Marrakech
Today you will leave for the city of Marrakech while enjoying the panoramic views of the Dades Valley. You will pass by Kalaat M’gouna, the city famous for its rose planting and its annual rose festival in May. We will then reach the Sekoura oasis. At this place, you will discover the architecture of the fortifications and the kasbahs and especially that of Amredil. An opportunity to unveil the secrets of the lifestyle of the Berbers who live in the oases. Lunch will be in Ouarzazate. Finally, you will continue to Marrakech via the Tizi N’tichka pass. This is the end of your tour in Morocco today.
– Day 7: Marrakech – Agadir
Today will be devoted to visiting Marrakech. You will explore Menara, the minaret of Koutoubia (the twin tower of Giralda in Seville, Spain). You will also visit the Saadian tombs which are composed of splendid mausoleums built in the 16th century, the majestic gardens. After lunch, we will explore the souk near the famous Jamaa Efna Square. You will also have the opportunity to explore this square by yourself. Finally, the night will be in a local riad in Marrakech.
